Spy of the Month

spy of the month

Agent Name: Dumbledore
Real Name: Sami Alahmadi

Congratulations, Spy! How does it feel?
It feels fantastic to know that my efforts don't go unnoticed at 826CHI. I truly enjoy tutoring at the writing center so this is just the cherry on top! I'm especially excited for the new, highly classified missions that will be available to me!

How did you first get involved at 826CHI?
One of my Spanish professors at UIC also volunteers at 826CHI and she told our class about it. I was very interested and joined the team ever since I heard about it.

What has been your favorite 826 experience so far?
I loved the chapbook reading at the end of the last school year. It's amazing to see all of the efforts of the students (and tutors) manifest for both their peers and parents to see and enjoy.

What do you do when you aren't working undercover?
When I'm not undercover, I love biking and exploring the city. I also work in a lab, so I'm always doing some weird science experiment and learning more about the field I work in.

What kind of weird science experiments do you do (or your field)?
A lot of the experiments I do involves working with mice. We manipulate their DNA and look at their brain tissue to be able to determine how specific brain diseases function.

Where is your favorite place to bike?
I love to bike along Lake Michigan down the lakefront trail. On one side, you have an incredible, neverending view of the lake while on the other side you can see the city's most beautiful structures and skyscrapers.

Our top agents always have the best codenames. What’s yours?
Mine is Dumbledore as chosen by one of the students who really loves Harry Potter.

Any words of wisdom for aspiring Spies of the Month?
Be active and enthusiastic with the students, your fellow spies, but keep a low profile among the public.
