826CHI is packed four afternoons a week with students in 1st through 12th grade working on their homework and sharpening their creative writing skills. Volunteer tutors help students with any and all homework assignments and lead students in daily creative and expository writing activities. Student writing created during tutoring is published in small chapbooks throughout the year, and we regularly host student readings for parents, tutors, and families.
New this year we are offering tutoring for high school students only (no little brothers or sister allowed-unless of course they are in high school, too!) on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. For more information click here.
After-School Tutoring enrollment for the 2011-12 school year is closed.
We regret to inform that we have reached capacity and are not currently accepting new students at this time. For updates on how to enroll your child in After-School Tutoring for the 2012-13 school year, please add your name to the parent mailing list.
We are still accepting students into our High School Tutoring program, which is open to 8th-12th graders. For more information, contact us at 773-772-8108 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
After-School Tutoring operates Monday through Thursday from 3:00-5:30pm in a drop-in fashion, meaning that students are welcome to come as they need to. Parents of students in grades 1st through 8th must attend an orientation session in order to register their child to participate in the program-no reservations are required. There are currently no scheduled orientations at this time, please check back soon.
High School Tutoring sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm and on Saturdays from 3:00-5:00pm for students in grades 9 thru 12. No parent orientation is required for students to participate in this high school program. Click here for more information.
Please note: There is no online registration for After-School Tutoring. Parents must attend an Orientation session at 826CHI to enroll their child.
We have some basic expectations for students who attend After-School Tutoring:
