826CHI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills. Our services are structured around our understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. Enroll your student (or yourself!) in 826CHI's year-long, tuition-free virtual creative writing programs today.
826CHI will run programs virtually in direct response to the remote academic year. Read below and visit our Programs page for information about how to work with 826CHI this year.
We've changed the name slightly, but will provide the same services. We offer free virtual writing support for students in grades 1-8, twice a week, Monday - Thursday from 5- 6 pm. Volunteers are available to work in small groups with students on English and Language Arts homework, writing assignments, reading, and publishing. Our services are based on the understanding that great leaps in learning happen when students receive this individual attention. REGISTER HERE // REGISTRARSE AQUI
Weekly throughout the school year, a group of teens from all over the city meet virtually to practice writing and explore their personal styles. Professional authors visit to lead workshops, share their experiences as writers, and introduce students to a variety of genres. Teens learn about the writing industry through cohorts in publishing/communications and teaching artistry.
Additionally, Teen Writers Studio participants complete twenty hours of service by volunteering at After-School Writing Lab and by representing 826CHI at outreach events across Chicago. Each spring, TWS students produce a chapbook, which they share and celebrate at a release party with friends, family, and 826CHI’s community. REGISTER HERE

Are you currently working with youth aged 6-18? Would you like to introduce your students to the transformative power of storytelling, creative writing, and publishing? Workshops are designed to foster creativity, strengthen writing skills, and provide students with a forum to execute projects they otherwise might not have the support to undertake. Workshops occur after-school in a virtual setting through community partnerships. Class size is limited to ensure that students receive individual attention. REGISTER HERE. (link coming soon)
