Chicago Food Magazine Features Eat Your Words

Today, our fifth annual culinary gala, Eat Your Words, was covered in Chicago Food Magazine. On Thursday, October 3rd, Chicago's culinary and literary worlds will unite at the Chicago Cultural Center in support of 826CHI's tuition-free writing programs. Featuring small plates from Momotaro, Swift & Sons, Good Fortune, and City Mouse, cocktails from Scofflaw and Moneygun, and dessert from Cabra and Milk Bar, Eat Your Words will be a night of outstanding stories, marvelous food, and incomparable company.

At this year's gala, we'll also be trying something new: an Iron Chef-inspired cooking battle. "Chefs Lee Wolen (Boka, Somerset, Devereaux) and Jimmy Papadopoulos (Bellemore) of Boka Restaurant Group will face off in Chicago's first-ever Chef Battle in support of 826CHI youth programming. Two student sous chefs with culinary credentials of their own will help the chefs tackle the six mystery ingredient baskets and produce an original dish in 30 minutes, and emcee Michael Muser (co-owner of Grace Restaurant and the soon-to-be-opened Ever) will provide live commentary on the competition." Only one chef/student pair will walk home with the prized Bejeweled Toque. Want first-row seats to the competition? Purchase your ticket here!
